About AbsolutePitch.org

This site is born at a genuinely interesting moment for the study of absolute pitch (perfect pitch). Between 2015 and 2025, a run of careful training studies measured real, repeatable gains in adults’ ability to name notes — enough to unsettle the old assumption that the window closes in childhood, and not enough to say that adults acquire absolute pitch as the field defines it. Holding both of those at once is what this collection is for.

These studies put pressure on the belief that absolute pitch is exclusive to childhood or purely innate — without settling it. My passion for the topic, combined with a desire to share serious and accessible knowledge, has led me to create this compilation of academic studies, exploring the origins, cognitive mechanisms, and genetic and environmental influences of absolute pitch.
